The event
Get ready for a night of thrills and chills at Spooky Stories Night at Telegraph Hill Books in San Francisco on Saturday, October 12, from 7 PM to 9 PM. If you’re a fan of the eerie, the mysterious, and the downright unsettling, this event is for you! This special evening will feature live readings from a lineup of talented authors, each weaving their own brand of spooky magic with words.
Gather around as Alex Brown, L.S. Johnson, Francesca Maria, Loren Rhoads, and Tamika Thompson share their latest spine-tingling tales. From haunted houses and gothic nightmares to monsters lurking in the shadows, these writers will take you on a journey through the darkest corners of their imaginations.
Alex Brown, a Locus Award finalist, will dive into her world of YA horror comedy, fresh from the release of her highly anticipated sophomore novel, Rest in Peaches. With her love for “Final Girls” and monstrous protagonists, Alex’s stories promise both laughs and chills.
L.S. Johnson brings her mastery of gothic horror to the table, with tales that explore the monsters within us all. As the author of Vacui Magia and Rare Birds, Johnson’s work has been longlisted for the Stoker Award and is sure to leave you haunted.
Francesca Maria will pull you into her lifelong obsession with the macabre, shaped by her childhood experiences in a haunted house. Now an accomplished writer and comic book aficionado, she channels those ghostly memories into stories that will keep you awake at night.
Loren Rhoads, known for her space opera trilogy In the Wake of the Templars, adds a twist of dark fantasy to the mix. Her stories have been featured in Best New Horror and Fright Mare: Women Write Horror, and her fiction collection Unsafe Words is a must-read for anyone who loves a good scare.
Tamika Thompson, the award-winning author of Unshod, Cackling, and Naked, rounds out the night with her unsettling and thought-provoking tales. Her work, praised by Publishers Weekly as “terrifying” and “powerful,” has appeared in numerous speculative fiction anthologies, and she’s ready to share stories that will leave you on edge.
Hosted by Telegraph Hill Arts and Literature, this event promises to be an unforgettable night filled with eerie stories and captivating performances. Whether you’re a horror aficionado or just looking for a fun, frightful evening, Spooky Stories Night is the place to be. Costumes are welcome but not required, and while RSVP isn’t necessary, it’s definitely appreciated.
